Observatorio:  This compelling composition depicts the magnificent observatory at Chichen Itza and is the latest edition to the Studio One Cozumel collection.  It makes a stunning pair with the Chichen Itza Pyramid. Limited Edition prints of the Observatorio are now available for purchase.  For more information on how to obtain the Observatorio please send an email to: gordon@studioonecozumel.com

Caracol: On the island of Cozumel near Punta Celerain Faro, El Caracol is a small shrine/tomb situated on the south point of the island.  Conch or Caracol shells are built into the dome and are said to sound when the wind blows in a certain direction.

Castillo:  Castillo Real translates to the "Royal Castle." A mayan site on the northeast side of the island of Cozumel, the castle majestically faces the turquoise blue Caribbean.  The Castillo structure includes a lookout tower, the base of a pyramid and a temple with two chambers. This famous Castillo Pyramid is recognized worldwide.

Chacmool: This is a fine example of a Chacmool from the Valley of Mexico, has a rain-god mask, rain-god symbolism in the amulet around his neck, and death elements on the feet - aspects of fertility and the life cycle.
Chichen Itza: One of the most popular sites in the Yucatán and a reflection of the amazing skill of Mayan engineering calculations, mathematical precision and placement.  Pyramid Kukulcan is the tallest of the Chichen Itza Structures and allows a view from the top of the pyramids of Ek Balam and Coba. During the Spring and Fall equinoxes, (March 21 & Sept 21) the setting sun creates shadows down the steps of the pyramid that resemble a snake descending.
Labna: One of the best examples of a Mayan arch, Labna is located in the "Puuc" hills in the Yucatán.  Starting form the end of the Classic Period (circa A.D. 900), this structure exemplifies the architectural style of the area.
Punta Molas: Punta Molas Faro, the lighthouse located at the North end of the island of Cozumel, is a colorful, detailed view of a typical Mayan Rivera costal scene.
Tulum: Located 131 kilometers south of Cancun, just 20 minutes south of Akumal on Hwy. 307. Monumental white stone structures facing the turquoise sea are impressive and powerful. Known as the "Walled City", Tulum was thought to be one of the most important cities of the ancient Mayan during its time. Fresco remnants are still visible inside some of the structures. This work is a detailed panoramic view of this Mayan retreat. Tulum is a popular place for weddings.
Temple of IxChel: This temple is a religious shrine and derives it's name from the Mayan fertility goddess IxChel.  This precise structure is located on the island of Cozumel near the north shore at the San Gervasio site.
Lithographs from Studio One Cozumel© are produced in limited editions from original drawings and paintings.  The lithographs encompass a unique cross section of examples of architecture located throughout the Yucatán peninsula.  Some of the selections include a temple, a castle, a tomb, a sacrificial sculpture, a fortress, a ceremonial arch, an "astronomical" pyramid and now an "astronomical" observatory.
